(URGENT) Lee says possibility of resuming dialogue between N. Korea's Kim, Trump cannot be ruled out

South Korean President Lee Jae Myung stated on Friday that it was evident that US President Donald Trump desires to engage in dialogue with North Korea. President Trump, aiming to restore the rapport he believes he established with Kim Jong Un during his first presidential term, disclosed his intention to meet with the North Korean leader later this year, according to remarks made to reporters last month.

Trump also emphasized the importance of fostering a positive relationship with Kim, stating that the situation in Pyongyang currently possesses 57 highly potent nuclear weapons, a figure South Korea estimates to be between 80 and 120.

Despite North Korea's lack of a clear response to Trump's proposals, Lee highlighted the ongoing efforts made by South Korea to establish communication between the two nations. While Lee admitted that organizing a summit remains challenging, he maintained that it is not entirely out of the question. He expressed the need to exert every possible effort to transform the potential for dialogue into a tangible reality.
