Two of the four accused in the murder of Tete denied bail

Two of the four individuals accused in the murder of former two-time world boxing champion, Zolani "Last Born' Tete, were denied bail by the Mdantsane Magistrates' Court in Kugompo City, Eastern Cape. Magistrate Anton Pretorius stated that the accused posed a flight risk, could interfere with witnesses, and faced serious charges.

Tete was murdered outside his home in Mdantsane three weeks prior. The other two accused have also abandoned bail. The two individuals who sought bail were the 22-year-old alleged mastermind, who is wheelchair-bound, and the alleged middleman. The mastermind cited his health condition and lack of a caregiver in prison as reasons for requesting bail, while the middleman argued that he is the primary breadwinner and might lose his job if imprisoned.

The prosecution opposed the bail applications, asserting that the accused were resourceful and could flee if released on bail. They also alleged that the mastermind's mother had already begun contacting state witnesses. The case has been delayed until October 13th for additional investigation.
