Tuchel recalls Alexander-Arnold and Palmer with warning

England head coach Thomas Tuchel has recalled Trent Alexander-Arnold and Cole Palmer to his first squad since the World Cup, but has emphasized that players must perform to earn their place. Both Alexander-Arnold and Palmer were left out of the England World Cup squad for the summer tournament in North America. Alexander-Arnold, 27, returned to the England lineup with his most recent cap coming as a substitute in a 1-0 win against Andorra in June 2025.

Palmer, 24, last played for England in a friendly match against Japan, scoring four goals and providing two assists in six games this season. Tuchel stated that both players need to perform and proved themselves during the international break to secure their places in the squad.
