CNN, a popular cable news network, has condemned President Donald Trump's planned ban on its network and two others from the White House as an "illegal assault" on press freedom. The network asserts its reporting is "fair and accurate" and protected under the US Constitution, stating that any ban would violate a "fundamental and constitutionally-protected right."

Trump had previously accused CNN, MS NOW (formerly MSNBC), and Politico of spreading "fiction and lies" without providing details. In a statement on his Truth Social platform, Trump claimed the ban was due to their constant reporting of "FAKE NEWS." He added that other fake news outlets would follow suit. CNN emphasized that it would not comply with the ban, citing the Constitution.
