Trump bans media outlets CNN, MS NOW, Politico from White House

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that he was restricting three major news outlets – CNN, MSN and Politico – from having access to the White House. He claimed that these outlets were reporting "FAKE NEWS" and urged other media to follow suit. The move is expected to face legal challenges as it potentially violates the US Constitution's First Amendment rights to free speech and a free press.

Trump has made it a point to criticize various media outlets for their coverage of his administration. He has also called for the Federal Communications Commission to revoke licenses from stations that air programming he dislikes or criticizes. Despite early legal victories against broadcasters, Trump's efforts to limit press freedom have been met with resistance from courts and newsrooms.

In July, the Justice Department withdrew subpoenas issued to New York Times journalists covering stories about the security of Trump's presidential aircraft. Trump has also filed defamation lawsuits against The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal over articles and a book about his fortune and a letter he allegedly sent to Jeffrey Epstein.

Earlier this year, he banned the Associated Press from covering his movements after they refused to use the name "Gulf of America" that he instructed executive branch employees to use instead of the traditional "Gulf of Mexico". Previous legal battles with ABC and CBS resulted in $15 million and $16 million settlements, respectively.

Trump has also taken legal action against ABC for defamation over statements about a civil judgment in a sexual assault case and sued CBS for airing misleading clips from an interview with Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris.
