Tokyo’s Square Burger claims it’s a viral hit with foreign tourists who’ve given it near-perfect Google reviews

A popular burger stand near Tokyo's iconic Sensoji Temple has gained a viral following among foreign tourists, boasting a nearly perfect Google rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars from over 2,000 reviews. The restaurant, called Kadomasu-The Square Burger, attributes its success to knowledgeable local partners and a unique square-shaped burger that aligns with the shape of its bread.

Located in Tokyo's Asakusa district, just steps from Sensoji Temple, Kadomasu-The Square Burger uses A5-grade wagyu beef for its patties. The distinctive square shape of the patties complements the bread, which is specially made in-house using golden sesame seeds from nearby bakery Terasawa, founded in 1950. The bread is fresh daily and baked on the restaurant's flat grill with a generous layer of butter, achieving a perfect balance of crispiness and softness.

The Square Burger is served cut into square quarters for easy eating, and customers can choose to add wasabi on the side or cheddar cheese for added richness. While the restaurant does not have a website, prices are posted outside the entrance, with a reported cost of 2,850 yen (US$18) for the burger, or 3,150 yen with cheddar. Over 80 percent of Kadomasu-The Square Burger's customers are international visitors, underscoring its appeal to tourists exploring Tokyo.
