TestMu AI adds assurance commands to Kane CLI platform

This addition empowers teams to define product functionalities and Kane CLI crafts corresponding tests, each test meticulously linked to the verified requirement.

Coverage is quantified through sealed evidence, and the test suite adapts as the product evolves. Initially launched in April 2026, Kane CLI has since introduced AI-powered test case generation, enabling users to convert concise descriptions into comprehensive scenarios and test cases. The new Assurance Lifecycle builds upon this foundation, focusing on deriving tests from actual requirement documents rather than mere prompts.

Traditionally, test suites report test pass rates without clearly linking them to specific requirements, leading to coverage uncertainties and stale tests when requirements change. The Assurance Lifecycle addresses this by transforming requirements into designed tests and converting test results into an auditable record of verified requirements.

The process begins with capturing requirement documents using "kane-cli context ingest," which stores these documents in a content-addressed local store. Next, an agent generates use cases by analyzing these sources, which can then be reviewed and edited by the team. The design phase translates these use cases into acceptance criteria, scenarios, and runnable tests, with each test tagged to the verified criteria.

This design output undergoes the same review process. The designed tests are then executed using "kane-cli testmd run" and "kane-cli testrun run," with every run creating an evidence pack. Coverage is measured through "kane-cli cover," which reports on what each test run proved and what remains unverified. Maintenance is handled by "kane-cli maintain," which reconciles the test suite whenever requirement documents change, marking previously extracted evidence as stale until re-verified.

Each step in the Assurance Lifecycle is a distinct command, allowing teams to pause, review, and resume at any juncture. The assurance store, comprising sources, use cases, designs, and review verdicts, remains local and append-only, ensuring a replayable history. The Assurance Lifecycle integrates seamlessly with Kane CLI, running headless in CI or from AI agents to streamline the end-to-end development workflow.

While the generate command provides ten test ideas quickly, the Assurance Lifecycle is designed for teams needing to verify exactly what is covered by their tests. By linking tests to specific requirements and ensuring evidence is sealed for each run, the Assurance Lifecycle offers a more transparent and auditable approach to quality assurance at an agentic pace.
