Suchitra 30-year age gap with ex Shekhar Kapur: ‘My mom touched my feet, said don’t marry’

Suchitra Krishnamoorti, best known for her role in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, shared her unique love story with director Shekhar Kapur, who is 30 years her senior. In a recent interview with Hauterrfly, Suchitra revealed that she was a "fangirl" when she first met the veteran filmmaker at 11th standard. At the time, Shekhar was a chief guest at her college.

Although the film project that brought them together never materialized, Shekhar continued to pursue her relationship. Suchitra's family, however, was not supportive of the relationship, as her mother even touched her feet and warned her against marrying him. After eight years, they decided to separate, but Suchitra's parents supported her decision.

They co-parented their daughter Kaveri, who spent most of her time with Suchitra and considered her vacation dad. Despite the challenges, Kaveri saw Shekhar as the best co-parent. Their marriage faced difficulties early on, but Suchitra stayed pregnant, as fate seemed to unravel itself in her favor. Ultimately, they did not remarry.
