The government collected a total of Rs 40,214 crore in STT from April 1 to September 17, compared to Rs 26,306 crore during the same period last year.

Net direct tax collections have also risen by 13 percent year-on-year to Rs 12.124 lakh crore, representing nearly 45 percent of the Rs 26.97 lakh crore direct tax target for FY27.
