Stop Political Fights and Save Ghana Sports – Samson Deen

National Paralympic Committee of Ghana President Samson Deen has warned that political division in Ghana could jeopardize the country's sports sector. Speaking on his Facebook page and at a Team Ghana sponsorship event, Deen emphasized that politics is "dividing us" and "destroying our sports." He implored the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to unite in addressing the sector's issues, warning that a divided sports industry may fail to attract sponsors or experienced leaders.

Deen called for a broader forum involving major political parties and sports stakeholders to tackle the challenges facing the industry. He criticized the politicization of sports administration, noting that attacks on officials under one administration could lead to similar treatment under the next. Deen urged journalists to ensure factual reporting and urged sports leaders to turn the language of reform into tangible action.

He also questioned whether the proposed US$12 million for stadium infrastructure would be sufficient, estimating that bringing four major stadiums into good condition would cost at least US$80 million. Deen emphasized the need for unity and action, warning that the sector risks losing confidence and the support of young people if the hostility surrounding sports administration continues.
