St. Bonaventure basketball: Woj, Bonnies turn heads after landing highest ranked recruit

St. Bonaventure's basketball program has recently made a significant move as it secured the commitment of highly ranked recruit Victor Aborowa, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski. This development marks the Bonnies' highest-ranked recruit in the era of modern ranking systems. Prior to this signing, the team's top recruit was Andrew Nicholson, an NBA first-round pick.

The arrival of this top talent comes as the program undergoes a transformation under the guidance of General Manager Wojnarowski, who joined in 2024. The Bonnies have previously attracted notable talent like Bob Lanier, but the ranking system has only been in place since his time. Recently, St. Bonaventure hired former Division 2 and Division 3 coach Mike MacDonald as their new head coach, bringing a wealth of experience to the program.

Despite the team's recent struggles, with a 17-17 overall record and 4-14 Atlantic 10 performance in the previous season, the addition of Aborowa signals a promising future. The senior, currently ranked 4-star in high school, will not join the team until the 2027-28 season. However, the Bonnies are already bolstered by several transfers, including players who followed MacDonald from Daemen College.
