Singer-actor IU donates $144,436 on debut anniversary

IU, the celebrated singer-actor, presented a generous donation of 200 million won, equivalent to $144,436, on her debut anniversary on Friday. According to her agency, Edam Entertainment, IU, whose real name is Lee Ji-eun, divided this sum equally between four charities. She used the name IUaena, an amalgamation of her stage name and the name of her fan community, Uaena, for this purpose, as reported by Edam Entertainment.

These donations were earmarked for charities aiding various vulnerable groups. They sought to support young patients from low-income families, war veterans, and individuals known for their merits. IU has a history of making such donations on significant occasions. In May, she contributed 300 million won to organizations aiding patients experiencing financial hardships, single-parent families, and elderly individuals living alone.
