Security measures at Ole Miss will be heightened for Lane Kiffin’s high-profile return with LSU

Mississippi is deploying the largest law enforcement operation in state history for a college football game this weekend, as tensions between SEC rivals Ole Miss and LSU reach a peak. The game on Saturday night will feature the seventh-ranked Tigers and the eighth-ranked Rebels, following Lane Kiffin’s departure for LSU. Mississippi law enforcement will bolster security around Vaught-Hemingway Stadium and off-campus, with 65 to 70 troopers and officers from highway patrol and commercial transportation enforcement division present through the weekend.

A helicopter and mobile command center will also assist in surveillance. Louisiana State Police will contribute 15 officers for transportation coordination. Oxford police will increase their mounted patrol force to at least 10 officers, assisted by officers from Mobile, Alabama. An unusual rule prohibits anyone wearing opponent team apparel from entering the student section, with violators facing removal.
