Samsung Exynos chipset market share rises to 9 pct in Q2

Samsung Electronics' Exynos application processors accounted for 9 percent of global smartphone AP shipments in Q2, marking the highest share since data collection began in 2024, according to industry data. This figure represents a 2 percentage point increase from the previous quarter and a 3 percentage point rise compared to the same period a year ago, reported market researcher Counterpoint Research.

Application processors, often referred to as the "brains" of mobile devices, manage essential computing tasks such as operating system management and application execution. The boost in Exynos shipments was attributed to strong sales across both high-end and mid-range smartphones.

The Exynos 2600, utilized in Samsung's Galaxy S26 series flagship devices, played a significant role in the premium segment's growth. Meanwhile, Exynos chips found in the Galaxy A57 and A37 helped drive shipments in the mid-range segment.

The global AP market was dominated by Taiwan-based MediaTek, which reported a 31 percent market share in Q2, followed by U.S.-based Qualcomm with 23 percent. Apple, which designs its A-series chips for iPhones, held a 19 percent share of the market.
