Safeguard national interests, Navy chief urges passing-out cadets

Chief of Training for the Nigerian Defence Academy, Rear Admiral Abdulrasheed Haruna, addressed graduating cadets at the Beating of the Retreat and prize-giving ceremony held at the RSM Oliver Nzalgana Parade Ground in Kaduna State. Haruna emphasized the importance of upholding democratic values, safeguarding Nigeria’s national interests, and remaining committed to their professional duties as they prepared for commissioning into the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The Chief of Training commended the academy for its commitment to excellence and urged the cadets to stay vigilant, disciplined, and focused as they prepared to serve their country. Haruna stressed the necessity of discipline, vigilance, and unwavering commitment to duty, urging the graduating officers to contribute meaningfully to tackling current security challenges.

The NDA Commandant, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye, echoed Haruna’s sentiments, reaffirming the academy’s dedication to producing officers who were physically fit, mentally sound, and morally upright. The ceremony saw the presentation of awards for outstanding performances across various activities, with Mogadishu Battalion and Collito Company of Ashanti Battalion named Champions for the 2025/2026 training cycle.
