Pomperaug football's triple-option attack rolls past Wethersfield with nearly 400 yards

Pomperaug's triple-option attack dominated Wethersfield in a 50-21 Connecticut High School Football Alliance game at Edward Arum Athletic Field. The Panthers amassed nearly 400 rushing yards, thanks to contributions from four players who each gained at least 78 yards. Quarterback Josh Coughlin ran for 92 yards on five attempts, while fullbacks Gavin Lynch and Dom Creaco combined for 99 yards and two touchdowns.

Jack Guinipero was a key player, rushing eight times for 87 yards and two scores. Pomperaug, coached by Tony Pereira, finished the regular season with a 5-5 record despite running one of the toughest schedules in Class MM. The team returned most of their roster and transitioned smoothly into the triple-option offense brought over from Joel Barlow by assistant coach Ryan Swift.
