Police identify alleged high-profile sponsors of “Ghana Jollof” online activities

The Ghana Police Service has uncovered evidence suggesting a financial connection between prominent figures in society and the online activities of Barbara Asantewaa Kodua, widely known as "Ghana Jollof". Forensic analysis of Salomey Awitti Baffoe's mobile phone revealed mobile money transactions indicating that substantial sums of money were transferred by influential individuals.

Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed to a press briefing on September 18, 2026, that she is aware of the individuals providing funding. Salomey subsequently distributed portions of the funds to other individuals involved in sharing and circulating videos created by Ghana Jollof on various social media platforms.

The police established a separate financial arrangement where Ghana Jollof allegedly sent money to Salomey in Ghana to aid her activities, who then funded others responsible for spreading the content. Investigators have identified those allegedly funding the activities using information from Salomey's phone and are actively seeking to locate and apprehend them.

Salomey has been charged with abetting crime, specifically the publication of false news, and is currently in police custody. She is scheduled to appear for further proceedings on September 30, 2026. Ghana Jollof is being investigated for creating videos, including one where she claimed there had been a near coup at the Jubilee House.
