Police identify alleged high-profile sponsors of “Ghana Jollof” online activities

The Ghana Police Service has identified alleged high-profile sponsors of the “Ghana Jollof” TikTok account’s activities, according to a statement from Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Donkor. During a press briefing, Donkor revealed that forensic examinations of Salomey Awiti Baffoe’s mobile phone and Barbara Asantewaa Kodua’s devices provided evidence linking the two individuals.

Audio and video interviews conducted as part of the investigation further detailed their relationship. The police claimed that forensic analysis of the devices, along with mobile money transaction records, uncovered significant financial transfers to Baffoe. Donkor alleged that some of these funds were obtained from influential individuals and redistributed to Kodua.

The CID Director-General stated that police had identified individuals believed to be financially supporting the activities, including high-profile persons within Ghanaian society. The investigation also uncovered a financial arrangement between Baffoe and Kodua, with Kodua allegedly remitting money from the United Kingdom to Baffoe in Ghana to support the activities.

Baffoe allegedly shared portions of the funds with others involved in redistributing and circulating videos produced by Kodua on social media platforms. Donkor emphasized that transcripts and other materials obtained from the forensics would be presented in court as evidence, and investigations were ongoing to establish the full network of individuals involved in the production, financing, and distribution of the content.
