PM Announces Rs. 3,000 Car Fuel Discount

The Prime Minister has unveiled a new Fuel Relief Scheme offering Rs. 3,000 in monthly discounts for car owners with engines up to 800cc. This relief is made possible through a Rs. 100-per-litre reduction on three 10-litre fuel tokens each month. Eligible car users will receive one token every 10 days, with each token covering 10 litres of petrol at the discounted rate.

Over a month, this results in Rs. 1,000 in relief per token. The government has also adapted the token system for motorcycles, Qingqi rickshaws, and rickshaws. For users needing less than 5 litres of petrol, one token is issued weekly, providing Rs. 500 in relief per token. Four weekly tokens can offer Rs. 2,000 in monthly relief to eligible two- and three-wheeler users.

The scheme extends to motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqis, and vehicles up to 800cc nationwide. Vehicles registered on or after January 1, 2006, are eligible. Registration fees have been waived, and eligible applicants can now register by sending the necessary details to 9771. This fuel relief initiative is being rolled out across the country, including in Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
