Pahang Umno pledges financial support for Najib Razak's RM50 million fine

The state chapter of the United Malays National Organisation (Umno) in Pahang has announced its intention to contribute to a fund aimed at assisting former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in paying the RM50 million fine imposed under his conditional pardon. Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, the Umno vice-president of Pahang, expressed the state's chapter's support for the initiative launched by Umno president Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

Wan Rosdy stated that the Pahang Umno chapter's contribution is a testament to solidarity and support for the Umno president's initiative.

Wan Rosdy further encouraged Umno members in Pahang who wish to contribute to donate voluntarily through their respective divisions. He emphasized that all collections and contributions should be managed transparently and systematically, in accordance with existing laws and regulations.

Earlier, Zahid Hamidi revealed that Umno is launching a fundraising campaign to help Najib pay the RM50 million fine. The primary objective of this initiative is to alleviate the financial burden Najib faces in meeting the fine's requirements. Following this announcement, Umno officially launched the Najib Razak Solidarity Fund.

In granting Najib a conditional pardon, the Pardons Board for the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya permitted him to serve the remainder of his SRC International prison sentence under house arrest until August 23, 2028. However, the pardon is contingent on Najib complying with the imposed conditions. Should he fail to meet these conditions, the pardon will be revoked, and he will have to return to prison to complete his remaining sentence.
