Oscar-winning director Alfonso Cuarón headed to Busan Film Festival

Oscar-winning Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón, renowned for his contemporary masterpieces such as "Gravity" and "Roma," is scheduled to attend his inaugural visit to Korea for the 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF). The two-time Academy Award winner will feature prominently at Asia's leading film event, which will be held in Busan from October 6 to 15.

With a reputation for pioneering modern filmmaking techniques, including long takes and immersive storytelling, Cuarón will participate in various high-profile activities during the festival. These include making his debut at the opening ceremony red carpet, leading a much-anticipated masterclass, and conducting a special question-and-answer session following an IMAX screening of his 2013 space thriller, "Gravity."

Cuarón's illustrious career is marked by significant accomplishments within the global film industry. He gained international recognition with his poignant coming-of-age drama "Y Tu Mamá También" (2001), which earned Best Screenplay at the Venice Film Festival. Subsequently, he revolutionized a franchise with "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" (2004) before presenting the intense dystopian narrative of "Children of Men" (2006). In 2018, Cuarón delivered a deeply personal and introspective film in "Blade Runner 2049."
