NLO warns clubs against participation in unauthorised competitions

The Nationwide League One (NLO) has issued a formal warning to all clubs under its jurisdiction, urging them to refrain from participating in any unauthorised private leagues and competitions. According to a statement from the NLO Secretariat, these private competitions are taking place outside the official framework approved by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the NLO itself.

The NLO has expressed serious concerns about clubs engaging in such extracurricular activities, stating that participation in these unauthorized competitions is strictly prohibited and breaches the rules and regulations governing football administration in Nigeria. In response to this issue, the NLO has directed all affected clubs to immediately cease all involvement in private leagues that have not obtained prior written approval from both the NFF and the NLO.

The league body has warned that clubs failing to comply with this directive may face severe disciplinary action. This could include suspension from league play, expulsion from the league, forfeiture of any results accrued during unauthorized competitions, and referral of the matter to the NFF Disciplinary Committee for further investigation and potential punishment. The NLO has emphasized the importance of adhering to the official league structure to maintain the integrity and fairness of Nigerian football.
