Nkawkaw Stadium: I’ve submitted all documents; let me know if you need anything else – Bryan Acheampong to NSA boss

Bryan Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Abetifi, has revealed that the Nkawkaw Stadium project was suspended following a directive from the National Sports Authority (NSA) to halt construction pending documentation and legal clearance. NSA Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah personally communicated this directive to Mr Acheampong via a private message on June 16, 2025, informing him that he would report the matter to the appropriate authorities.

The MP shared this information publicly, stating that the extended silence surrounding the project necessitated an explanation for its halt.

According to Mr Acheampong, the NSA's directive read, "Once we all stakeholders are aligned, especially with the documentation and legal clarity, we can proceed. For now, pause so that I can report accurately back to the top." Although the conversation was private, he opted to disclose it due to the ongoing uncertainties surrounding the stadium project. He apologized to NSA boss Ankrah, explaining that while it was a private conversation, the revelation was necessary due to the project's current state.

The directive was issued at approximately 4:38 a.m. on June 16, 2025, and over a year and two months later, Mr Acheampong had not received any further communication from NSA. He expressed disappointment at the lack of follow-up and rejected claims that the project had been abandoned without substantial work done. He noted that significant resources had been invested, including the construction of a wall, importation of furniture from China, and the erection of 2,800 seats.

However, he also alleged that materials he purchased for the stadium were later used for paragliding by the assembly and subsequently destroyed.

Acheampong's objective was to provide a facility for local residents, but the suspension of work due to NSA's directive left him unable to proceed. He concluded by stating that he had committed to the project's success for his constituents but was now at a loss on how to move forward without further instructions from the supervising agency.
