M'sian soldier, 40, charged after allegedly kicking daughter, 5, in restaurant

A 40-year-old Malaysian soldier, Mohamed Nisa Mohamed Nasir, has been charged with allegedly kicking his 5-year-old daughter in a restaurant on September 11, 2026, according to The Star. The incident, captured on security camera footage, took place on September 17 in a restaurant in Kota Bharu, Kelantan. Nisa was seen forcefully kicking his daughter to the ground while horrified onlookers watched, before dragging her back up and leading her away from the scene.

Nisa pleaded not guilty to the charges, and the case will proceed to trial. Prosecutors decided not to grant bail, citing concerns that he might interfere with his daughter. However, Nisa's legal team argued that he has served in the military for 19 years and has three children. They also mentioned that his wife depends on him for her kidney dialysis treatment and hospital appointments, and that there were no prior instances of domestic abuse.

The court granted Nisa bail of RM10,000 (S$3,095) with conditions that he not interfere with the victim and witnesses, surrender his passport, and report to a police station every two weeks until the case is resolved. His next court appearance is scheduled for October 22. If found guilty, Nisa faces a fine of up to RM50,000 (S$15,479), imprisonment for up to 20 years, or both.
