Twenty-five years after the September 11 attacks, the global fight against jihadism continues to be an unsettled battle. At the time of the attacks, commentators noted that the third millennium had begun with a "totalitarian bang," and argued that the free world needed to wage a massive counterattack. While some victories have been achieved, such as the construction of the Freedom Tower at Ground Zero in New York City, the war against jihadism has not been entirely won.

Jihadist attacks have continued worldwide, including the Bali bombings, Madrid train bombings, London Underground attacks, and numerous others. These attacks have been inspired by the events of 9/11 and demonstrate the continued relevance of the threat. Despite these ongoing attacks, some countries, such as America, have managed to maintain their iconic structures and innovations, such as the airplane and skyscraper.

The fight against jihadism has taken a two-pronged approach: military and political efforts. Israel's doctrine emphasizes fighting jihadist militias on their borders, while the political goal is to expose the governments that aid and abet these plots. However, the current American administration has not fully embraced this approach, considering Islamist groups as allies and their leaders as personal friends.

To effectively combat jihadism, it is crucial to acknowledge the enemy's ideology and its intent to undermine pluralism and diversity. This message should be clearly communicated and widely disseminated, as it remains the most important aspect yet to be waged in the war against terror.
