Meta’s new Muse AI agent app overtakes ChatGPT as top iPhone app

Meta's Muse AI agent app has recently surpassed ChatGPT to become the leading free app on the U.S. App Store for iPhones. The new app, which launched this month, quickly climbed the charts despite only being available for a couple of weeks. This surge in popularity can be attributed to recent installs, which have helped the app climb the ranks of the App Store's top listings.

Recently, Meta expanded Muse's availability to the Mac, although the desktop version does not contribute to the App Store ranking as it can be downloaded from the web. Both Meta and SpaceXAI have taken a unique approach to agentic tools, with Muse and Grok Bot simulating agentic workflows through casual messaging interfaces, giving agents distinct personified characteristics.

In contrast, OpenAI and Anthropic have integrated agentic tools into their existing applications. Apple has also entered the AI game with its new Siri AI, which is integrated across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple Watch and is equipped with a dedicated chat app. This app can perform system actions such as editing photos and leveraging on-screen content for context.
