Brazilian football star Marcelo has once again declared Cristiano Ronaldo as the greatest of all time, or GOAT, in a recent interview with Mexican social media twins Isi and Benny. When asked to choose between Messi and Ronaldo, Marcelo replied confidently, "Cristiano to the death." This choice isn't surprising, given that the two played together for nine seasons at Real Madrid, winning multiple UEFA Champions League and LaLiga titles.
Marcelo had previously expressed a preference for Ronaldo in an interview with DjMaRiio in December 2025, stating that he admired Messi's talent but considered himself a "devoted Cristiano enthusiast." Before that, Marcelo was asked to pick during a Twitch livestream where he praised Cristiano, having played alongside him and acknowledging Messi's skill, but still favoring his former teammate.
Both Messi and Ronaldo are still active players, with Messi in Inter Miami and Ronaldo in Saudi Arabia's Al-Nassr.
