The camping site that once went by the name "Regenbogencamp Prerow" now proudly bears the sun-colored title "Ahoi Camp Darß." Despite the division that persists 36 years after reunification, the majority of both East and West Germans believe that the other side has something valuable to learn. While nearly three-quarters of East Germans think the West can learn from the East, only about half of West Germans hold the same view. This sentiment is particularly notable when it comes to perceptions of the other region's attitudes towards learning and growth.

The shared dependence on tourism on the Darß peninsula creates a sense of unity among locals, transcending political divisions.
