Maraga engages US lawmakers over Kenya’s 2027 poll

Nairobi, Kenya - Former Chief Justice and 2027 presidential candidate, David Maraga, has been advocating for electoral reforms by meeting with US lawmakers, civil society groups, and think tanks in Washington DC. He is focusing on the People’s Coalition’s five-point electoral reform agenda aimed at ensuring a free, fair, and credible 2027 election in Kenya.

Maraga highlighted his discussions with the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, civil society, and think tanks convened by NEDemocracy, emphasizing their shared goal of securing a credible election. He plans to continue building partnerships to make this vision a reality. Additionally, Maraga met with Joe Trippi of Vanguard Africa to discuss electoral integrity and the promotion of youth participation in civic processes.

His three-week tour in the US, which began on September 17, will take him across nine US destinations before he returns to Nairobi on October 5. Maraga has actively promoted constitutionalism, governance, and electoral reforms as key components of his political campaign, and he is inviting Kenyans living in the US to share their views and contribute to shaping Kenya's future during his meetings.
