Man, 50s, due in court charged over Healy-Rae assault

A man in his 50s is scheduled to appear in Dublin District Court on charges related to the assault of Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae. The incident occurred around 4:10pm on Wednesday when Healy-Rae, traveling in his own vehicle on Cork Street in Dublin city, was approached by a man who assaulted him through the window of his car. Gardaí arrived promptly at the scene, transporting Healy-Rae to Kevin Street Garda Station and subsequently to St Vincent's University Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

He was discharged on Wednesday night after receiving stitches for facial and mouth injuries. Healy-Rae, who had been in Leinster House earlier, expressed no intention of being deterred from continuing his work.
