Mamata Banerjee has challenged the Election Commission's decision in the Supreme Court. The poll panel froze the Trinamool Congress name and symbol for upcoming bypolls. Her faction received a new name and symbol for the October 6 elections. The rival faction was allotted a different name and symbol by the ECI. The dispute over the original party identity remains unresolved by the commission.
