Maharashtra: MSRTC Changes NCMC Registration Rules, Adds Aadhaar OTP, ₹199 Replacement And 30-Day QR Travel Receipt

Maharashtra's MSRTC has updated the registration and distribution process for NCMC cards offered to women, senior citizens, and Amrut senior citizens traveling on concession fares. Beginning September 21, individuals whose fingerprints fail the biometric check can register using an OTP sent to their Aadhaar-linked mobile. This adjustment aims to prevent loss of concession fare access due to biometric difficulties.

MSRTC has also introduced a replacement service for lost or stolen NCMC cards, allowing users to block the old card and request a new one by paying a Rs 199 fee. Beginning September 21, eligible passengers who registered before September 19 can collect their cards starting September 25. Those registering from September 16 will receive a QR-code-enabled registration receipt, which can be scanned at electronic ticketing machines to receive concession tickets while waiting for the NCMC card.

This QR receipt remains valid for 30 days, after which beneficiaries must activate their NCMC card and top it up to continue receiving concessions. The NCMC system became mandatory for women and senior citizens seeking ST fare concessions from September 1, but the new changes provide alternatives for those experiencing biometric failures and a digital workaround until their cards are activated.
