The Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) is planning to set up Community Rehabilitation Centres (PPDK) at major military camps to provide care for children with special needs. This initiative is part of the MAF's commitment to support its personnel, especially those responsible for the well-being of special needs children. Chief of Defence Force General Tan Sri Malek Razak Sulaiman emphasized that the welfare of MAF personnel and their families is a top priority, aiming to ensure that service members can focus on their duties without worrying about their families' safety at home.
He revealed that the MAF aims to establish at least one PPDK in every major camp to aid in the care of these children. Additionally, the MAF is currently undertaking 898 maintenance projects involving 15,024 units of Armed Forces Family Housing (RKAT) to improve living conditions for security force personnel. These projects, funded by a P60 allocation, are set to be completed by December and include 301 new accommodation blocks and 989 related infrastructure enhancements.
The MAF also supports the socio-economic well-being of soldiers' spouses through the Armed Forces Welfare Body (BAKAT), which provides income-generating opportunities such as mushroom cultivation and vegetable farming. The organisation is also focusing on upgrading infrastructure at older camps, including the maintenance of technical buildings, offices, and hostel and dining hall facilities to ensure a comfortable working environment for all personnel.
MAF celebrated its 93rd anniversary on Tuesday, with the theme "Ketahanan ATM, Benteng Pertahanan Negara" (MAF Resilience, Bastion of National Defence).
