Lagarde deja abierta su salida anticipada del BCE: "Ya veremos"

On Friday, European Central Bank (ECB) President Christine Lagarde signaled that she is open to stepping down before her term expires in October 2027. During an interview with Ireland's public broadcaster RTE in Dublin, Lagarde said she would "see" if that scenario becomes a reality. When asked if she had set a specific date for her departure, she responded, "We shall see."

Lagarde reiterated that whatever the timing, her tenure will be handled professionally. At a subsequent press conference after the Eurogroup meeting, Lagarde confirmed she had not discussed the matter with Eurozone finance ministers or been asked about it. France may back Dutch candidate Klaas Knot to replace Lagarde, with a Gallic economist heading the ECB, according to specialist media. The current ECB economist chief is Ireland's Philip Lane, whose term is set to end in May.
