Leh: Ladakh's Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena inaugurated the Yuva Internship Programme on Thursday, aiming to institutionalize youth participation in governance within the Union Territory. This program will offer 2,000 youths a structured platform to collaborate and learn from government departments via three-month internships.
The initiative, supported by the Centre, aims to expose the youth to the workings of public institutions while allowing the administration to benefit from their innovative ideas and approaches.
The program aligns with the birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and kicked off with a virtual orientation for participants from across Ladakh, including Kargil, Changthang, Sham, Nubra, Drass, and Zanskar. During the orientation workshop, Saxena emphasized the importance of viewing the internship as a platform for learning, experience, exposure, and service, aiming for the youth to become active partners in Ladakh’s development. The three-month internship will commence on September 17, with interns receiving a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000. Outstanding performers may see their internship extended by another three months based on their performance.
