Japan's refiners secured sufficient crude supplies through November, industry body says

The Electoral Commission of South Africa (IEC) has secured 23,696 voting stations for the upcoming November 4 local government elections, comprising 33 mobile stations, according to IEC Chief Electoral Officer Sy Mamabolo. This figure may undergo minor adjustments once lease agreements for some sites are finalized. Of the 23,696 stations, 22,668 are permanent, 995 are temporary, and 33 are mobile.

The IEC's preparations, less than two months before South Africans cast their votes, include the recruitment and training of 23,696 presiding officers and 29,964 deputy presiding officers. Over half have already been recruited, and training is underway. Mamabolo emphasized the commission's commitment to a "credible, transparent, inclusive, and law-compliant" electoral process.

Voters can verify their voting station details via SMS, phone, or WhatsApp, with the sequence number aiding in identifying names on the voters' roll. The IEC is also finalizing its election results system, engaging external auditors to validate key controls and processes, with political parties accessing the system for testing from October 5 to 12.
