This smaller Dynamic Island was achieved by relocating Face ID's infrared camera beneath the display at the top-left corner. The pixels directly above the infrared camera possess a unique pattern allowing infrared light to pass through, while the screen appears normal from typical viewing angles.

The teardown demonstrates the relocated infrared camera, along with other enhancements, such as a more extensive 48-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture. The device in the video features a physical SIM card tray, indicating a smaller battery capacity compared to eSIM-only models sold in the U.S., Canada, Japan, and certain other nations.

This version possesses a 4,056 mAh battery. The article anticipates a future teardown of the U.S. edition of the iPhone 18 Pro Max, which is anticipated to incorporate a Qualcomm cellular modem, like the Snapdragon X80 or the Snapdragon X85. The smaller iPhone 18 Pro utilizes Apple's C2 modem globally, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max in all other countries, excluding the U.S., uses the same modem, according to Apple.
