Instagram Post Cracks 2-Year Jewellery Theft Mystery, Ex-Domestic Help Held In Indore

Indore, Madhya Pradesh: A seemingly innocuous Instagram post proved to be a crucial clue in solving a two-year old jewelry theft case. Former domestic worker Poonam, who lived in Scheme No. 78, became the prime suspect when a photograph from her account caught the attention of the victim's family. The missing items included a gold chain with a diamond pendant, a diamond-studded gold ring, a pair of expensive women's glasses and other household valuables, totaling approximately Rs 3 lakh in worth.

Sanjay Jhalani, the complainant, had noticed the thefts over time, with the last one occurring around two months ago. Poonam, who had been working at the victim's house for about three years prior to her departure two months ago, confessed to the thefts. Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the BNS and recovered the stolen items based on Poonam's admission.

Further investigation is currently being conducted. Meanwhile, construction of the Indore Metro Underground Corridor has faced opposition from residents, with promises of structural safety checks before any further tunnelling.
