Hundreds of thousands attend Iran's biggest government-organized rally since the war began

Hundreds of thousands of Iranians gathered in Tehran on Friday for the government's largest organized rally since the war began, vowing to take up arms if necessary. This demonstration aimed to demonstrate national unity amidst economic struggles and ongoing tensions with the U.S. and Israel. The event featured participants in combat uniforms, carrying flags and cheering onlookers.

State media had previously encouraged Iranians to join the "Janfaday-e Iran," or "those who sacrifice their lives for Iran," campaign, promising military training in assault rifles. Tehran's Guard chief, Gen. Hassan Hassanzadeh, reported that over 600,000 people had registered for the rally, with an estimated 1 million expected to participate.

The Basij militia's new head, Hossein Taeb, declared the volunteers would be ready for "full-fledged defense." Protesters chanted "Death to America" and "Death to Israel," while displaying anti-aircraft batteries and drones used against ships in the Strait of Hormuz. The rally showcased Iran's military capabilities and the hardliners' willingness to suppress any future demonstrations.
