‘How truck crushed my 2 sons’

Suleiman Yunusa, a father from Kano, recounted the tragic death of his two sons, Ahmad Suleiman and Mohammed Suleiman, who were crushed by a sand-laden truck while returning home from school on Wednesday. The victims were riding a motorcycle along the Rimin Auzinawa-Yan Rake road in Ungogo Local Government Area when the accident occurred.

The truck driver, Ado Manya, also perished in the incident. Yunusa's five-year-old son, Yunusa Suleiman, survived with fractures and other injuries and is currently undergoing surgery at the National Orthopaedic Hospital Dala, Kano. The victims were on their way to Modern International School, Rijiyar Zaki, where they had been attending lessons.

Following the accident, an angry mob set the truck ablaze, and the driver fled the scene. Yunusa expressed his devastation and shock at losing two of his children at once, saying he had left everything to Allah but felt helpless in the face of such tragedy. The incident has reignited discussions about the safety of the road and the frequent accidents involving sand trucks in the area, with residents calling for improvements and alternative routes.
