Good Morning San Diego: Bogey falls single short of cycle in series clincher for Padres

DENVER, CO - SEPTEMBER 17: Xander Bogaerts of the San Diego Padres attempted to achieve a cycle during a game against the Colorado Rockies at Coors Field on Thursday. While he fell short of the achievement by a single, the Padres managed to secure a 9-2 victory, advancing their series lead to 3-1. Bogaerts opened the second inning with a home run, tying the score at 1-1.

He then contributed an RBI-triple in the second inning's later part. In the fourth inning, he went back to the plate, hitting a ground rule double. Bogaerts had one final opportunity to complete the cycle in the top of the ninth inning, when he struck out swinging. Pitching for San Diego was Michael King, who faced initial challenges when Jake McCarthy connected for a leadoff triple.

King steadied himself and finished the game strong, allowing two runs on seven hits, two walks, and striking out six batters. Bogaerts was not the only Padres player to contribute significantly; Dustin Harris had a 3-for-5 day, contributing a run scored and three RBI. Ty France also performed well, finishing 3-for-4 with a double and a run scored.
