GNPC, Explorco pay condolence visit to Regent of Dagbon, reaffirm commitment to sustainable operations

A delegation from the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) and its subsidiary, GNPC Explorco, visited the Regent of the Dagbon Kingdom at Gbewaa Palace in Yendi to offer condolences following the passing of the Overlord of Dagbon. The delegation, led by GNPC CEO and GNPC Explorco Board Member Kwame Ntow Amoah, included senior GNPC and GNPC Explorco executives and the Managing Director of the GNPC Foundation, Helga Boadi.

The Regent, represented by Zangbalun Naa Dr Jacob Yakubu II, welcomed the delegation and urged the companies to prioritize local content, environmental protection, community development, and transparent communication. GNPC Explorco CEO Ntow Amoah reaffirmed the companies' commitment to a responsible and mutually beneficial relationship with traditional authorities, highlighting their seismic data acquisition and technical studies since 2018.

He cautioned that the planned drilling is exploratory and not indicative of an oil or gas discovery, emphasizing the importance of further studies to understand the basin's geology. GNPC Explorco Managing Director Samuel Opoku Arthur also expressed sympathy for the Royal Family and the people of Dagbon, thanking them for their cooperation and support.

The visit is part of GNPC and GNPC Explorco's ongoing engagement with traditional authorities and communities as the exploration activities in the region continue.
