New devices are emerging that can record and transcribe conversations and phone calls using artificial intelligence. These gadgets promise to transform the way we take notes and archive meetings. Some are designed to listen to the user's surroundings, transcribe discussions using AI, and turn them into summaries, reminders, or daily notes.

Others can record phone and video calls directly from a device and organize them with AI. However, this ability to listen closely raises questions about privacy, third-party consent, and how companies like Amazon might use this data. One leading company in this space is Plaud, a Chinese firm based in San Francisco specializing in advanced voice recording devices with AI.

Their Note Pro, about the size of a business card, can be placed on the back of a smartphone to record calls. When placed on a table, it can capture ongoing conversations or meetings. Its software transcribes the audio and uses AI to provide summaries and automatically organize ideas, priced at about 190 euros. Plaud has also announced the Plaud One, a portable device that can function as earbuds or stand alone, designed to record conversations in real-time, phone or video calls, and transcribe them automatically.

It includes 300 minutes of free transcription per month, which can be extended with subscription plans, priced at 249 euros. Amazon has entered this market with the acquisition of Bee, a bracelet that records conversations when a button is pressed, indicated by a green light. However, Bee goes further by listening throughout the day to create patterns of behavior and offer users a daily agenda, even knowing how they react to stressful situations.

It can also access email and calendar to send emails or schedule meetings based on voice commands. Bee is sold in the US for 149 dollars. Pocket's functionality is similar to Plaud Note and Note Pro, allowing users to record conversations, meetings, and phone calls, and convert them into natural language transcription using AI. Its price is 109 euros.

Anker also offers Soundcore Work, a device that records meetings and interviews, generating summaries based on minutes. It includes 300 minutes of recording per month, which can be extended with subscription plans. It's small like a coin and weighs only 10 grams, fitting as a clip on a shirt collar or lapel for clear conversation capture.

It supports over 150 languages and is sold for 150 euros. Nothing's Ear 3a headphones can be used for music or calls, like traditional headphones, but also include call and video call recording functionality. They can capture a single minute of conversation at the moment it starts and even play back 30 seconds before recording began. It's available for 99 euros.
