Flames sign forward Brennan Othmann to one-year, two-way extension

The Calgary Flames have extended forward Brennan Othmann's contract for another season, committing to a one-year, two-way deal worth US$975,000 at the NHL level. The contract value, announced on Friday, includes a first annual payment of $205.00 plus GST for one year, with the subsequent payment of $233.00 plus GST every 52 weeks, representing a 10% discount from the regular annual price of $259.35. Subscribers can cancel the contract at any time.

Othmann, a 23-year-old, was acquired by Calgary from the New York Rangers on March 6. The Calgary native, drafted 16th overall in the 2021 draft by the Rangers, had a successful stint in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers, tallying a goal and an assist in two games and adding a goal and six assists in 14 games. Prior to joining the Flames, Othmann played with the Rangers and the Hartford Wolf Pack, finishing second in scoring with 49 points in 67 games and earning a selection to the AHL All-Star Game.

Born in Pickering, Ontario, Othmann brought his talents to the NHL stage, beginning his professional career with the Rangers in 2021. He clinched the 2023 Ontario Hockey League championship with the Peterborough Petes and amassed gold medals from the 2022 and 2023 world junior championships with Canada.
