Punjab Housing Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal visited two significant water supply and wastewater treatment projects in Faisalabad, reviewing their construction progress. One project, the Eastern Wastewater Treatment Plant, is being developed with Danish assistance and will process 33 million gallons of water daily. The second project is the Surface Water Treatment Plant Phase-II, being built with French support and also capable of treating 30 million gallons of water per day.
The two initiatives will jointly deliver 63 million gallons of water daily, benefiting more than 1.3 million residents of Faisalabad. Chinese experts collaborated with Mengal to discuss the construction status and various elements of the projects. Saqib Haral, the Managing Director of WASA Faisalabad, accompanied Mengal and provided updates on the ongoing development work.
Mengal directed the authorities to finish construction within the agreed deadlines while adhering to stringent quality standards. He emphasized that ensuring clean drinking water for Faisalabad's residents remains a top priority for the Punjab government. Additionally, a 25-MGD Surface Water Treatment Plant is being constructed in Faisalabad, and the Jhal Water Treatment Plant's expansion will add another 5 MGD, enhancing the network for densely populated areas along Jaranwala Road and Satiana Road.
