DAP akan terkesan keputusan pengampunan Najib, kata KJ

Former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has stated that the Pakatan Harapan government, and specifically the DAP, will be affected by the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Najib Razak. Khairy said that while DAP previously considered the pardon a red line for the party, they do have an escape clause. They could claim that they expressed their view, but ultimately the decision lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

Khairy noted that in a recent episode of the Keluar Sekejap radio program, Najib was given a conditional pardon in the SRC International case, allowing him to serve the remaining six years of his sentence under home detention until August 23, 2028, subject to paying a fine of RM50 million. The DAP Executive Council is set to meet today to discuss and decide on the party's response to the conditional pardon of Najib.

DAP Deputy President Loke Siew Fook was reported to have said that the party has consistently demanded justice and accountability in relation to the 1MDB scandal. Loe also added that Deputy Prime Minister Hannah Yeoh had conveyed the party's coherent position when carrying out her responsibility as a member of the Federal Territories Council Committee.

Last week, DAP Kuala Lumpur Treasurer Ben Fong urged party members in the Departmental Ministers to resign their positions if Najib is granted a pardon, as the party's position in the government would be unjustified if the former MP from Pekan was released.
