DAP akan terkesan keputusan pengampunan Najib, kata KJ

DAP may view former Prime Minister Najib Razak's conditional pardon as having no connection with them, despite previously considering it a red line, according to former Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin, who spoke on the Keluar Sekejap radio program. While DAP had previously claimed that Najib's release was a red line for the party, they also have an escape clause, stating that they can say they have expressed their views but ultimately, the decision lies with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

The conditional pardon was granted to Najib in the SRC International case, allowing him to serve the remaining six years of his prison sentence until August 23, 2028, under house arrest, after the Appeal Board reduced half of his initial sentence of 12 years and the RM210 million fine to RM50 million. The DAP Executive Council is set to meet today to discuss and decide on the party's response and actions following Najib's conditional pardon.

DAP Deputy President Loke Siew Fook reportedly stated that the party has consistently insisted on justice and accountability in relation to the 1MDB scandal. The Central Region Secretary, Hannah Yeoh, reportedly conveyed the party's unified stance when fulfilling her responsibility as a member of the Federal Territory Committee.

Last week, DAP Kuala Lumpur Treasurer Ben Fong urged party members in the Jemaah Menteri to resign their posts if Najib is granted the pardon, as DAP's position within the government would become unjustifiable if the former Penang MP was freed.
