Danish varsity: Regular classes to begin from next Sept, PM told

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was briefed on the planned resumption of regular classes at Danish University in September 2027. During a review meeting chaired by the prime minister, officials reported that 185 applications had been received for various faculty positions, with the selection process already underway for top faculty members.

The government's top priority, according to the prime minister, is to provide quality, merit-based education for the country's most promising and deserving students. Danish University aims to offer world-class education and become a center of excellence in technology, both nationally and regionally. Additionally, the university is launching a talent hunt for second-year FSc and A-Level students to join its virtual school, with selected students receiving five months of fully free classes.

The entrance test for the program will be held on October 24, 2026, across more than 40 cities. Construction of the university building is expected to be completed by next year, and the initial phase will offer programs in bioengineering, electrical engineering, artificial intelligence, computer science, and technology and society.

A bridge programme will run from August 10 to September 14, 2027, to prepare and support students ahead of the start of regular classes. The meeting included representatives from the Ministry of Planning, Law Ministry, Economic Affairs Ministry, Education Ministry, Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, the Danish University Board of Trustees, and senior government officials.
