Ashirwad Ka Diya’ Lit and Railway Staff Felicitated on ‘Seva Diwas’ at KSR Bengaluru

On Thursday, V. Somanna, Union Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti, honored railway staff who have shown exceptional dedication at KSR Bengaluru Railway Station on the occasion of 'Seva Diwas'. This day was chosen to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi's birthday, as he had served the nation for 25 years, first as Chief Minister and then as Prime Minister. V. Somanna lit the 'Ashirwad Ka Diya' (Lamp of Blessings) alongside over 200 railway employees, recognizing their commitment to serving the nation.

The Minister emphasized the importance of continuous infrastructure development for the country's progress, highlighting the railway and roadway sectors as the backbone of India. He announced the redevelopment of Bengaluru Cantonment Railway Station at a cost of ₹485 crore, expected to be completed by December 2026, as well as Yesvantpur Railway Station at an estimated budget of ₹480 crore. These projects are planned with future needs of Karnataka in mind.

Additionally, the development of Road Over Bridges (ROBs) and Road Under Bridges (RUBs) is fully funded by the Central Government, streamlining the implementation process. For the 'Seva Diwas' celebrations, Vande Bharat train staff, high-performing employees, and other railway personnel participated in lighting around 250 lamps, including the 'Ashirwad Ka Diya'.

P. C. Mohan, Member of Parliament from Bengaluru Central, praised the growth of Indian Railways over the past few years, particularly the near completion of railway electrification. He also noted the establishment of new airports, AIIMS, and IITs, attributing these developments to overall national progress. V. Somanna highlighted that 'Seva' in Indian Railways extends beyond a single day, being a responsibility carried out round the clock every day of the year.

Divisional Railway Manager Ashutosh Kumar Singh underscored the significance of every act of service, no matter how minor, in contributing to society. He reminded attendees that 'Seva' is a continuous duty performed by railway employees every day. Other officials present included Additional Divisional Railway Managers Parikshit Mohanpuria and Praveen Kataraki, RITES Bengaluru General Manager M. G. Sudeep, and various railway staff.
