Apple Teams With Axis Bank for Long-Awaited Apple Pay Debut in India

Apple is set to launch its Apple Pay service in India in collaboration with Mumbai-based Axis Bank, according to Reuters. The report, citing unnamed sources, states that Axis Bank will be the first lender in India to partner with Apple for Apple Pay. The technology giant plans to introduce more lenders in the future, similar to its approach in other markets.

Currently, India stands out among major economies without Apple Pay availability. Both companies have declined to provide any comment on the reported partnership. Apple had hinted at bringing Apple Pay to India earlier this year, as the nation's middle class is expanding. Talks with card networks and regulatory authorities were ongoing at the time.

In January, Apple disclosed that it was in discussions with various card networks and banks, including Axis Bank, to launch Apple Pay in India.
