3 suspek curi kenderaan diburu selepas terbabit nahas maut di Bentong

Kuantan: Police are on the hunt for three men who fled the scene after being involved in a fatal accident involving three vehicles on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik, Bentong, yesterday. According to Deputy Police Chief Azry Akmar Ayob, three suspects aged between 20 and 30 have been identified, while a man who rented the vehicle to the suspects has been detained.

"They are still at large and police are trying to track them down," he said when reached by reporters after attending a monthly meeting at IPK Pahang today. The 30-year-old detained man tested positive for drug use and is currently being held before being charged in court. On Monday, a motorcyclist died after colliding with a Perodua Myvi and a Honda HR-V on Jalan Mempaga-Sertik, Bentong.

The Chief of Police in Bentong earlier announced that the driver and two passengers of a Perodua Myvi were believed to have left the vehicle before fleeing to a nearby rice paddy area after the accident. In related developments, Azry Akmar said police are still pursuing five Orang Asli who were detained last Tuesday for allegedly obstructing officials during an operation in a forest reserve area in Bera, Selangor.

He said the five individuals, consisting of four women and one man, were detained on September 15 and held for a day under Section 186 of the Criminal Procedure Code before being released on bail. He advised people in the area to cooperate with authorities, including the police, the Daerah and Land Office (PDT) and other government agencies conducting land operations and re-measurement at the forest reserve site.
